We had a blast this past Saturday at the 2nd annual live podcast at Bottlemixx. Shane Willis dropped some serious knowledge on us about coaching, small changes players are making, and shares some fun broadcast stories with us as well. We appreciate everyone who came out and helped us raise over $300 to support the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.
The Canes are in the midst of their All Star break, but that doesn't stop the webs own Michael Smith from providing non stop coverage of your favorite hockey club. Smitty joins Mike and Derek on the Caniac_Realtor Guest Line to discuss the All Star game, improvements in the Canes social media platforms, and more. Meanwhile, Mike and Derek talk about all sorts of stuff including hockey, beer, and this weeks upcoming LIVE PODCAST at BottleMixx. Thanks for listening, and we hope to see you Saturday, 2/2 at 1PM for our live show!
Thank god for great guests. Graeme Nichols from The6thSens.com joins us to discuss Sens v Canes, who we should be shopping off their roster, and just how close to Karmanos their owner actually is. Meanwhile, Derek and I chat during the 2 intermissions of the Rangers game and things went about as well as the game itself. We promise to do better next time. Thanks to @bottlemixx for the brews and thanks to @caniac_realtor for keeping a roof over our heads.
With the Canes on now a 4 game winning streak, Mike has thrown all caution to the win and said things like "shutout" during this podcast. Luckily, we had the gents from Cheaters Never Pin on the Caniac_Realtor guest line to talk some sense into us. Meanwhile, Derek does his usual bang up job drinking a delicious Bottlemixx beverage. Thanks as always for listening, and please keep your voodoo dolls of us to a minimum.
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Calvin de Haan drops by the Dawn from Fathom Realty guest line to talk Whalers Night, post-game celebrations, what it's like to own a brewery, and more. As always, we take a look at recent Canes games, answer your #cheatmail, and review a delicious beer available at Bottlemixx.
Please rate, review, subscribe, and tell a friend about the podcast. We truly appreciate your support, and thanks for listening!
With a busy week on the horizon, we're here to hopefully provide some levity and analysis. Ok, we provide the levity, and Cat Silverman from InGoal Magazine and The Athletic provides the analysis on the Dawn from Fathom Realty Guest Line. Cat is one of the best in the biz and one of the smartest goalie people we've ever met, so if anyone can solve our issues, it's Cat. We drink a kick butt Christmas Ale from Bottlemixx and answer your CheatMail questions all before leaving to go watch a certain win vs. Montreal (oops). Oh, and check out the new Alexa Skill by telling Alexa "Alexa, add Section 328 update to my skills"
The team can't score and our old asses can't stay up til 1AM to watch them score one goal, so this week, you get GUESTS on the @Caniac_Realtor guest line. Two of the best in the biz join us to talk Canes woes, goal scoring, and how to fix this team. Sara Civian from The Athletic Carolina joins us from the road to discuss the west coast swing and to debunk myths that it never rains in Southern California. Then, direct from the center of the hockey universe, Steve Dangle from Sportsnet and brand new author drops in to discuss Nylander, CMac, and the Canes upcoming tilt vs. the Leafs. We take your #CheatMail, review an amazing stout on the BottleMixx beer review, and Mike even drops in some underappreciated fan fic. Anything to score, right?
Is Scott Darling good? Is Jeff Skinner elite? When is a 4-2-1 streak bad? We try and answer all of these questions (poorly) during this weeks pod. Thanks as always for listening.
I had hoped to be able to put pen to paper and put my feelings out there on the return of Cam Ward tonight, but nothing felt right. So I did what I do all too often, and decided to just put my feelings out there about Cam's return. Before you judge me for my feelings, take a listen, and then judge away and feel free to even goalie chant me. Maybe it will be cathartic for you too.
DISCLAIMER: Mike might have fallen off the rails and lost his darn mind. Seriously, there is bad language in this episode. Don't play it on your speakers at work or around your kids. We'll do better next time, but here's the good news. This venting therapy session basically led to the Canes win in Chicago and has the boys back on track. Thanks to our sponsors @BottleMixx and @Caniac_Realtor as always for sticking by us during these tough times.
